Non-Sex-Based Discrimination & Harassment/Bias Incidents
The Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment applies to all forms of discrimination listed below when any party involved is a student:
- Age
- Color
- Disability (physical or mental)
- Marital status
- Military status
- National origin
- Predisposing genetic characteristic
- Race
- Religion
- Shared ancestry
Any conduct that appears or is perceived to be motivated by one of the above characteristics may constitute what the university defines as a “bias incident.” If you have experienced or witnessed a bias incident, please contact the Office of Title IX & Student Civil Rights Compliance or use to share your experience. Once you have completed and submitted the online form, the Title IX Coordinator and Director of Student Civil Rights or their designee will follow up with you to talk through the options available to address the alleged conduct and ensure you have the support you need.
While not all bias incidents meet the jurisdictional threshold required under the Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment, the university can still act and resolve the situation in other ways. By informing us about incidents such as graffiti, defaced fliers, or anonymous emails, you are helping the university craft prevention and education efforts to address unlawful bias at the university.
