Clinical Year Information
Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPEs), commonly known as clinical rotations, take place during the 2nd year of PA education. These experiences offer real-world exposure to clinical medicine in many different settings, including hospitals, emergency departments, operating rooms, and clinics. Students are given the opportunity to work directly with preceptors, including board-certified PAs, NPs, and physicians, and gain exposure to all different types of patients and medical conditions. MU PA has secured clinical sites across the United States, ensuring that our students have the opportunity to practice medicine in urban, suburban, and rural areas. They also have the option to potentially travel to international sites for elective rotations in Belize and South Africa. Given that many SCPEs are located outside of the urban Milwaukee area, students should be prepared to complete up to 50% of their clinical rotations outside of Milwaukee, which may require both housing and travel costs. We anticipate that students will spend approximately $5000 during the clinical year to cover the costs of these experiences.
