Grant Management Process Improvement

The success of our faculty and staff in obtaining external funding for research, instruction, equipment, and other campus operations, and increased federal compliance requirements for managing grants, has highlighted the need to engage in major efforts to improve campus support for grants management. This work involves collaboration between staff and faculty from across campus to identify how to best reduce time required for key tasks, reduce error, increase staff capacity, improve communication, and create training and resource materials for all stakeholders who help manage grants. Initial milestones include the development of the new user-friendly grants dashboard  and receiving an NSF   (MU POST) in post-award process improvement.  A number of other projects are currently under way, with this year’s efforts summarized in the Post-Award Support Roadmap.

Post-Award Support for PIs Roadmap (May 2025)

Logic Model for Post-Award Improvements

As a next step, key stakeholders (faculty and staff) will soon be surveyed by the external evaluators for the MU POST project.  This will help with future project prioritization and provide baseline information that will be used for evaluation of project impact. We will look forward to sharing more about this important work early in the Fall 2025 semester.
