is the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology hosts a chapter at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ. It is part of the Professional organization (ASHA: American Speech Language Hearing Association) to which many Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists belong. The focus of NSSLHA is to promote the profession of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, education, charitable fundraising, and service to the academic unit.
ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's NSSLHA members partake in various activities on and off ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s campus. The chapter donates themed items, such as pumpkins and flower pots, to be used in the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Speech and Hearing Clinic for their clients each semester. Members of the chapter also participate in multiple volunteer opportunities with a local non-profit organization, the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, or DSAW. DSAW hosts holiday parties, charitable runs, and social events, and our NSSLHA members always have a strong volunteer presence at these events. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ's NSSLHA now volunteers with other non-profit organizations in the area, such as Penfield's Children Center. As a chapter, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ NSSLHA also holds social meetings for our members, which may include a Holiday Potluck, a guest speaker, a film screening, a trivia night, and many more fun activities.
We would like to thank the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Community and Speech Language Pathology and Audiology students for the ongoing support with fundraising. We strive to hold fundraisers at least 3 times each semester. In the past, we have organized dine-to-donate events at local restaurants, hosted bake sales, and held hearing screenings for monetary donations in order to fundraise money for the ASHFoundation and other non-profit organizations in Milwaukee. With our members' help, we have raised a great amount of funds to be donated to these organizations and scholarship funds.
