Professor

Philosophy

David Twetten (Ph.D. University of Toronto) publishes mostly in classical philosophy, focusing on such figures as Avicenna, Averroes, Albert the Great and Aquinas on issues of cosmology, metaphysics and philosophical theology. He also has strong interests in the history of analytic philosophy (Frege to Kripke), in early Husserl and Heidegger, and in contemporary philosophy of language, essentialism and substance theory. The things he gets passionate about include: Aristotle’s Greek, tennis, and Russian novels.
