Ӱ Business’ Kellstadt Lecture to discuss online privacy, role of parents in monitoring kids’ internet behaviors, May 2

MILWAUKEE —The 2025 Kellstadt Lecture in Marketing presented by Ӱ’s College of Business Administration, “Who Knows More Online: Parents or their Children? Exploring the Role of Parents in their Children’s Online Privacy Behaviors,” will be held Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Dr. Richard Netemeyer, Ralph A. Beeton Professor of Free Enterprise at the University of Virginia, and Dr. Kristen Walker, professor of marketing at California State University, Northridge, will discuss the parental factors that lead to more positive and negative child behaviors online, as well as practical tips for safeguarding child privacy.

Netemeyer’s current substantive research interests include public policy and social issues, health/maladaptive behaviors, consumer financial well-being and child safety on the internet. His methodological interests include structural equation modeling, measurement and psychometrics, and survey research. He is a co-author of two books pertaining to measurement and psychometrics and is a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing.
Walker serves as the MBA director David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at CSUN, as well as the Small Business Institute Director. She regularly utilizes client projects and platform development activities in classes to help students manage and execute marketing strategies for community businesses and non-profit organizations. Her research interests merge public policy, technology, and marketing, focusing on socially responsible business practices around technology, interactive marketing, digital business models, social media and youth privacy protection.
The Kellstadt Lecture is an annual, endowed event that brings together some of the industry’s brightest thinkers to discuss its most pressing challenges. Previous speakers have included Michelle Morris, the vice president of global marketing solutions at Facebook, and Paul DePodesta, the chief strategy officer for the Cleveland Browns and a central figure in Michael Lewis’ book “Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game.”
