Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Nancy Hollis is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology. Her clinical approach integrates insight-oriented and trauma-informed methods, including training in psychodynamic therapy and EMDR. She is licensed in Illinois, Florida, and Texas, and works with adolescents, emerging adults, and families. She continues to provide clinical services through a private group practice in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Hollis’ research interests focus on trauma within marginalized and underserved communities, with particular attention to Black and Afro-Caribbean populations. She is especially interested in sexual trauma in college and university settings, as well as counselor preparedness and self-efficacy in working with survivors of sexual violence. Her broader research interests include workplace trauma, intergenerational trauma, and the relational and psychological impact of coercive or high-control relationships and group environments.
