
Mark Afable is the principal of Afable Consulting, LLC, and advises several insurance-related entities, including the American Property and Casualty Insurance Association, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, National Insurance Producers Registry, and Interstate Insurance Compact. He also serves on the American Family Insurance Mutual Holding Company Board of Directors and is the Executive in Residence for Insurance and Instructor of Practice at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ’s College of Business.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Afable served as Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Wisconsin from January 2019 through December 2021. Afable served as the state’s chief regulator of insurance and oversaw the operations of the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance.
A graduate of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Law School, Afable has many years of experience in the insurance industry. Before his appointment, he served as the chief legal officer for American Family Insurance. He advised senior leadership and the board of directors on legal matters involving corporate governance, compliance issues, and regulatory actions. Prior to becoming CLO, Afable was an executive vice president overseeing Claims and Sales and Service.
Afable serves on the Board of Directors of the Mielcarek Family Foundation and previously served on the Board of Directors for Sunshine Place, a resource facility for charitable organizations providing food, clothing, and social services to residents of Sun Prairie. He also served on the American Family Children's Hospital Advisory Board.
